Ocean perch lie deep, but by no means directly at the bottom. Sometimes they can be even 10 yards above it. To stalk ocean perch successfully it is extremely important to fish with an adequately long system with lots of hooks. So, no reservations about Volker's 13 yard leader if you want to fish (and catch) like a professional. Recommended bait: Small fish scraps. Rig is supplied on a winding board.
